The Role
The appointee will provide administrative support to the Training & Quality Enhancement Department and for Volunteer Co-ordination within the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Roscommon Region. The successful candidate will be required to work 22 hours per week rostered Monday to Friday on a flexible basis to suit the needs of the organisation and the people we support.
The person appointed will assist the Training & Quality Enhancement Manager in planning and scheduling training initiatives in line with the organisation’s vision, policies and procedures, be responsible for collating reports for CQL and HIQA and provide general administrative assistance as well as the continuing development of the existing volunteer programme within the Roscommon region by recruiting additional volunteers while also supporting existing volunteers.

Qualifications / Experience
Each candidate should have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Have at least three years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong organisational and administrative skills, have an innovative approach to work and possess good communication skills.
  • It is essential that the successful candidate have or develop a strong person centred orientation.
  • A full clean driving licence is also essential.
  • Excellent I.T. skills are essential.
  • A relevant third level qualification in the area of community development or training / facilitation would be advantageous.
  • Experience in working with people with an intellectual disability is desirable.

  • Strong service user orientation.
  • Strong organising and administrative skills including maintaining databases, statistics and outcomes, scheduling and co-ordination.
  • Time-management skills.
  • Co-ordination skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to negotiate and liaise with managers and multi-disciplinary heads of departments.
  • Ability to liaise with front-line staff, outreach workers and volunteers and co-ordinate countywide.
  • Strong IT skills particularly in Word, Excel, Access.
  • Enthusiastic and positive.
  • Self-motivating and ability to plan own work and work on own initiative.

This is a permanent part-time and pensionable vacancy initially based in a residential service in the Mid-Roscommon Services. The successful candidate will be required to provide support to adults with severe to profound intellectual disabilities and support needs. You will be required to work 60 hours per fortnight rostered flexibly over a 7 day basis. Night duty is essential. Locum duty is also an essential requirement, whereby the person appointed will be expected to be flexible to work extra hours from time to time to cover other staff leave as needs.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Have a recognised qualification in nursing (RNID desirable) and be currently registered in an appropriate division of the Register of An Bord Altranais (N.M.B.I.)
  • An interest in, and ideally experience of working with people with severe intellectual disabilities.

The Role
The Area Manager will be responsible for the effective day to day management and co-coordination of Day, Residential and Respite Services in the South Roscommon area. The successful candidate will provide direct support and lead the staff team and will be a proactive member of the General Services management team participating in the operational and strategic development of the Services together with the implementation of the services strategic plan.

Qualifications / Experience

  • A relevant 3rd level qualification;
  • Previous experience of effectively managing a staff team and demonstrate a proven ability to pro-actively lead, motivate, empower and achieve results through people;
  • Experience of working with people with an intellectual disability and managing people’s well-being using an evidence based approach to person centred planning e.g. Personal Outcome Measures;
  • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the National Standards for Residential Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities and The Health Act 2007 Regulations and 2013;
  • Experience of working with adults with high support needs and implementing positive behavioural supports;
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to community integration and active citizenship for all people with disabilities with experience in the area of human rights and advocacy;
  • A full clean driving license and access to his/her own car.

  • Planning, organisational and time management skills,
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate and liaise with others,
  • Creativity and innovative approach to problem-solving,

Brothers of Charity Services – Community Employment Training and Work Experience Scheme for Care Support Workers.
LOCATION – Positions based throughout Co. Roscommon

Qualifications / Experience

• 19.5 hours per week supporting people with Intellectual Disabilities.
• No qualifications required but FETAC 5 training will be provided.
• Job specific training also provided.
