There is a contemporary model of service coordination in South Roscommon. There is a Co-ordinator/Manager who works in partnership with the Social Worker. They work in equal partnership in terms of service development and planning. They are supported by a part-time administrator. All three people are based in the Athlone office in Bealnamulla.
The Social Worker, Co-ordinator & key workers work in partnership in co-ordinating circles of support around the Individuals that experience an Intellectual Disability.
Social Worker & Co-ordinator Mentor
The Social Worker & Co-ordinator has been seconded from the Social Work department to jointly co-ordinate the South Roscommon region. In addition to the providing a Social Work service, the brief also includes developing Individualised services in partnership with the Co-ordinator Organiser by having a mentoring role. He also provides a Social Work in terms of protection & welfare on a county level when required and co-ordinated Advocacy in the county on behalf of the BOC.
The Co-ordinator Organiser (Benny Cunningham) has worked in the organisation as children’s respite manager prior to her post in Athlone. She jointly works in partnership with the wider team members to co-ordinate & manage services & staff for the Individuals in South Roscommon. The role also involves using Personal Outcomes Measures to mentor staff to provide individualised services to people.
The Administrator (Mary Cox) has responsibility for administratively supporting the staff in Athlone. She also has responsibility for payroll and updating the Personal Outcomes database for the people that use the services. Mary works part-time in the South Roscommon office.
